On Behalf of Givo

Race was glad to be resting given the recent ordeal.
He had endured some physical beating but most of his trauma was mental.  He remembered the commands to access and transfer funds...he remembered trying to hide as he weaved his way through the banks programming...he remembered syphoning funds off and putting them into a new account he created.
What had he been thinking?  Was the funds worth his life?  Obviously so or he wouldn’t have taken the chance.  Down the track he needed to work out how far he was willing to go for credits but that would wait for another day.
He gazed across at Eliza.  They had only been seeing each other for a few weeks now but he knew there was chemistry there...strong chemistry at that.  Getting close to someone was risky business but last night her fast thinking and caring nature saved his life.  He gave her a smile and winked at her just as a doctor came in.
He grabbed his deck and checked it over to make sure nothing was amiss...more out of habit than anything else.  Flicking it on he found an online florist and quickly made a transaction for a large bunch of assorted natives to be sent to Eliza on his behalf...just to say thanks.  He was about to hack into the florist business “Growing Together” to create a new management account and approve his own transaction at no charge when he stopped.  These flowers meant a lot to him and this time he would actually pay for them!  Sure none would know he paid and some might assume he had just ripped off a florist but he would know and he felt confident that Eliza would to.  Now what did he put on the card...
“Dear Eliza, I can never repay what you did for me but wanted to let you know how much you mean to me”
Was that too sloppy?  Was he fumbling for words?  Ah it would do and his message would be clear.  He entered his details for the payment and arranged to have the flowers sent to her at work tomorrow.  Getting flowers was even better when others saw you receiving them...or so he had been told.
The doctor began to talk to the man in the bed beside him.  Although he didnt know the man he knew that he owed his life to him and was startled at the doctors words
"There is something wrong with your DNA, but it's like nothing we've seen before. It's almost as if parts of your genetic makeup have been changed. And it's definitely a man made condition, almost as if there is hidden programming inside you. The effects of this may not be noticeable, and it's impossible for us to tell what the purpose of this defect is, if indeed if there is a purpose".
Race couldn’t remember the mans name but as the doctor left he flashed the man a warm smile
“Well things could be worse I guess...at least you’re alive!  My names Race and I owe you my life”
It was a bit weak but at least it was genuine.

Plenty to think about

Yun Jin lay there in stunned silence.
He stared after the departing doctor, deep in thought.
A DNA mutative???? Who?? When?? How???
So many questions!
He rolled on to his side, well tried to and stopped. The pain in his right chest was excruciating.
He reached down and felt the familiar gauze swab padding associated with a bullet wound. Laying back down, he glanced across at the Elf recalling the moments of the last 24hrs.
The shoot out in the old bank. The chase across the roof tops and the evil smile on the face of the man he was chasing until the pain exploded in his chest and he felt himself falling.
Shaking his head to clear away the memory of the impact of the bullet,
‘Hmmm... you must be Race???.... Good to see you alive I guess, huh good to see us both alive!”
Looking at Bellazel and Eliza I spose you guys are the ones I need to thank for getting me in here and patched up!.... Thanks!
“Now forgive me for bein blunt but is there any food? I am starving!!
Ummm. How long have I been here??’’ “hmmm more to the point how much longer do i need to be here? Yun couldn’t help but think of the various hospitals he had been in, in his time. People got sick in hospitals or worse, whilst this place looked clean and safe it was still an uneasy feeling being here.

Waking up to a surprise

The world slowly came into focus for Yun Jin. It looked white, and sterile and bright.
"Hospital, yeah that would be right" thought the Chinese man, who was becomming aware of aches and pains in his body that shouldn't be there.

Yun looked across to the bed beside him where a vaugley familiar looking elf sat. There were a few moments of uncomfortable silence, before the Elf pulled out a complicated looking keyboard shaped computer, and begun to type with precision while the optical cable connecting it to his temple blinked on and off rapidly.

The door to the room opened, and in walked two elves who Yun did recognise. Bellazel and Eliza, his most recent employers. They were accompanied by an Elf in a doctors coat, all three wore grim expressions.

"We have some disturbing news" said the doctor to Yun.
"It is common precedure to scan patients DNA for a rare Elven genetic disease. Not being an elf, you would never have been scanned for this, but since this is an elven only facility, the lab did the scan regardless".

He paused, as though looking for appropriate words.
"There is something wrong with your DNA, but it's like nothing we've seen before. It's almost as if parts of your genetic makeup have been changed. And it's defintely a man made condition, almsot as if there is hidden progrmming inside you. The effects of this may not be noticable, and it's impossible for us to tell what the purpose of this defect is, if indeed if there is a purpose".

"Sorry", he said with resignation, and retreated out the door.

As bellazel's chauffeur loads the unconscious Yun Jin into the towncar, Aoki goes to work on the plaststeel restraints binding Race to his chair, the autopicker quickly does it's job, and the manacles fall to the floor.
The tell tale sound of sirens brings urgency to Eliza and Race's reunion, but the tears of joy are no less real. All members of the group rush to the vehicles, Aoki grabbing a single AK97 on her way out of the building.

After surviving such a harrowing and chaotic situation, Bellazel has had a moment of clarity so profound that any uncertainties he may have previously had have now seemingly vanished. His brief but inspiring confrontation with the seedier elements of life have given him the perfect tools for his ambitious plans. Though unrefined and a touch barbaric, both Yun and Aoki can be shaped and directed in a way so as to help achieve all that Bellazel could have hoped. He congratulates Aoki on a job well done. Perhaps more bloody and violent than was necessary, but the situation called for little else.
“If your interested in more work I might be able to provide some interesting jobs, leave me your  details and I’ll get back to you. I’ll promise you a $500 call out fee and should we come to an agreement on remuneration you’ll receive 50% pre job and 50% once it’s successfully accomplished. Hopefully this standard will alleviate our earlier disorderly communications.”

The offer was good for both Aoki and Yun, however Yun was in no shape to be making business dealings, a private medical facility, normally only taking in elves, makes an exception this one time, through the prompting of Bellazel, and the standing of both he and Race in the community.

It is some time later that Yun Jin awakes, a beautiful blonde woman looking down upon him.
"He's waking up" Eliza says quietly, with a genuine smile upon her face.

Race looks over from his bed adjacent, not sure what to make of the Chinese man who had done his part in rescuing him from torture and death.

"I'll let BZ know, he's been worried" Eliza says again...
